The Eight Auspicious Symbols: The Precious Umbrella

Here's a Prismacolor drawing of one of the eight auspicious symbols, the parasol. A symbol of royalty but also of protection from defilements. I took inspiration from some fancy, historical European umbrellas.

Kshitigarbha ☸️📿 🇸🇪/ 🇬🇧

Kshitigarbha hör till en av många Bodhisattvor som agerar ute i världen till fördel av alla medvetande ting. På Sanskrit går hans namn att översätta till ”Skattkammaren i jorden” eller ”jordens livmoder”, han är känd för att ha tagit eden att inte träda in i upplysning förrän alla helveten är tomma.

I Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Fundamentala Ed Sutran så hänvisar man till flera fördelar som kommer ifrån att tillbe och hedra Kshitigarbha: Du kommer vara beskyddad ifrån naturkatastrofer, sjukdomar och illasinnade andar. Du kommer ha bättre hälsa, mer vitalitet och fred i hemmet utöver många fler fördelar.

Kshitigarbha's mantra är följande: OṂ KṢITIGARBHA THLIṂ HŪṂ

Kshitigarbha belong to one of the many Bodhisattvas that act in the world for the benefit of all sentient beings. In Sanskrit his name can be translated as “Earth Treasury” or “Earth Womb”, he is known to have taken the vow not to enter into enlightenment until all hell realms are empty.

In the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Fundamental Vow Sutra there are many benefits mentioned that are attributed to the praise and veneration of Kshitgarbha: You will be protected from natural disasters, illness and malevolent spirits. You will have better health, more vitality and peace in your home in addition to many more benefits.

The mantra of Kshitigarbha is the following: OṂ KṢITIGARBHA THLIṂ HŪṂ

The Eight Auspicious Symbols: The Victory Banner

This one is inspired by Roman SPQR banners. Instead of an eagle I drew a vulture, representing Vulture Peak (a place where the Buddha gave teachings such as the Heart Sutra). Included are the colours of the five Buddha families, a wish-fulfilling gem and a laurel wreath.
