all of my dreams had been either nightmares or sleep paralysis, and i dont know why. it feels like a curse
but one night i remember something different. that night i remember a dream where i could fly. not like with wings, but like a ghost that could levitate
it wasnt a superpower given to me right away, i actually had to learn how to fly and i remember vividly jumping around and taking bigger and bigger leaps from the ground after each jump. it’s like i was on the moon till i took off and began flying around my city. i felt like peter parker experiencing my powers first hand
i saw the beautiful lit midnight city from above, it looked both gothic and yet modern, so gigantic and yet so cramped. i could only make out silhouettes of the structures and the dim orange lights from the windows. the sky was clear, but there were no stars. the whole city felt so great and big, but so lonely. there were no people, not even stray cats or dogs. a big, empty graveyard
i lost my ability to fly. i tried jumping harder and from higher spots, but the best i could do is softly and slowly land like a feather. when i finally gave up, i woke up in my bed both delightful and distressed. it was the only dream in years that wasnt a nightmare, and that i had so much fun with. it is depressing how it was so short
