It’s really odd that the first thing I felt when I read about this was schadenfreude. I mean, he’s dead and all.

I don’t know what it says about my character, perhaps a little more charity is in order but I suspect this is one of the many pitfalls of “muh democracy”.

Lifestyle creep increasingly moves the impoverished into modes of middle-class living. For instance when I was a teenager not everyone could even afford a landline and now even the homeless have cell phones. However Jensen estimates that to move the third world and emerging economies into what we consider “middle class” would require the carrying capacity of another 35 Planet Earths. And that is exactly why importing immigrants into a better living standard may not be sustainable at all.
