🚀 Introducing Dataset.ET

The future of AI should speak Ethiopian languages.

Today we are launching Dataset.ET — an open community initiative to build the largest dataset for Ethiopian languages.

Why this matters:
Most AI systems today barely understand Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali, and many other Ethiopian languages. Without datasets, AI will ignore our languages.

Dataset.ET is changing that.

What we are building:
• Speech datasets
• Text datasets
• Community-validated language corpora
• Open infrastructure for Ethiopian AI

How you can help:
1️⃣ Record sentences using our Telegram bot
2️⃣ Validate recordings from other contributors
3️⃣ Help expand datasets for Ethiopian languages

No technical skills needed — just your voice and your language.

🤖 Start contributing:

🌍 Learn more:

💬 Join the community:

Together we can teach AI to understand Ethiopia.

📢 Community leaders & channel admins:
If you run a Telegram group or community and believe Ethiopian languages should be part of the future of AI, we would really appreciate it if you could share this post with your community.

Your support can help thousands of people contribute their language and voice to this initiative. Thank you!

BookPulse is a social reading platform where people can read books together

You can create or join book clubs, follow a shared reading schedule, and discuss ideas with others as you move through the pages.

If you prefer reading quietly, that’s also possible. You can create a private club with just your friends or even read completely on your own.

Here’s what you can do on BookPulse:

🍃 Create or join clubs public or private reading circles.
🍃 Every club has discussion spaces. When you join, you’ll see a general chat and an optional spoiler chat.
🍃 Chapter discussions unlock based on your current page, so you only see conversations related to the part you’ve already read.
🍃 If a book has too many chapters, you can divide it based on pages or in any way that works best for your club.
🍃 You can write private notes, pin them, and come back to them anytime.
🍃 You’ll receive notifications if you fall behind your reading schedule or become inactive in discussions.
🍃 You can share your thoughts, ideas, and reflections with the community.

This is the beta version of BookPulse. I built it quickly because I really wanted to launch it today, so it may still have some bugs. If you find any issues, please DM me @azolzz your feedback will help improve the platform.

BookPulse is also open source. If you like the project, check out the GitHub repository and give it a ⭐️

Now go create your own reading circle, start a book, and motivate others to read with you

I came across this channel. The posts are cool. It includes tech news with english and amharic captions. I think it might help for non technical people, too.

Half of the year is already gone. The calendar says 50% complete

Today I paused for a moment and asked myself: What have I actually done so far?

Honestly, part of me feels like I should restart the year and do things better. But when I thought deeper, I realized, I actually learned a lot.

One unexpected thing I learned this year is listening to Tigrigna. Living in the dorm and studying with amazing Tegaru friends and classmates made it possible. They are some of the coolest people I’ve met.

People often talk about division and race, but university life shows a different reality. You see real diversity. You see tolerance. You see people supporting each other like real brothers and sisters.

So maybe the year is already halfway done, but I’m grateful for the experiences, meeting new people, exploring new cultures, and even adding a new language to my life.

In a funny way, it feels like adding a new feature to your project. unexpected, but it makes the whole system better.

Still learning. Still exploring.
