The Diageo-owned Amherstburg, Ontario facility that has bottled Crown Royal whisky since 1971 has been listed for sale ahead of its planned shutdown in early 2026. The 25-hectare industrial site includes eight large buildings with rail access and other logistics features. Diageo announced the closure as part of a strategy to streamline its North American supply chain and move bottling closer to U.S. customers. Bottling will shift to Valleyfield, Quebec, while Crown Royal will continue to be distilled and aged in Canada.

More than half of Canada’s most dangerous winter roads are in Ontario, according to a new Samsara study based on fleet vehicle data from 2022–2025. Six of the top 10 hazardous routes are in the province, with Erieau Road near Lake Erie ranked the most dangerous nationwide due to narrow lanes and severe lake-effect snow. Other high-risk Ontario roads include Highway 17 (Kenora–Dryden), Highway 11 (Hearst–Kapuskasing), the QEW at the Burlington Skyway, and two sections of Highway 401. A man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder after two people were killed near Grande Prairie, Alta. early Saturday morning.
Grande Prairie Rural RCMP were called to a shooting on a rural road in the area of Range road 35 and Township Road 730 in Grande Prairie County, police said in a news release.

Hunt for 2 armed suspects continues after fatal shooting on northern Sask. First Nation
One man is dead and Saskatchewan RCMP say they are still searching for two armed men after an early morning shooting on Big Island Lake Cree Nation.
Larry Wahpistikwan told CBC News that his son, Neil, was the person who was shot and killed early Tuesday morning on the northwestern Saskatchewan First Nation, near the Alberta border.
"We came round dancing from Moon Lake and we were about to sleep when my brother called me and told me that my son got shot," Wahpistikwan said. "They killed him."
