St. Peter Julian Eymard was a French priest and founder. Determined to cultivate devotion to the Holy Eucharist, he established the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament. Alongside the adoration of the Eucharist, he led the congregations to look after the poor. For him, even in the formation of the laity and in the instruction of adults, the Eucharist is always at the center of preaching.

She was a Spanish married layperson. She was the mother of St. Dominic and Bl. Manes de Guzman. While she was pregnant with St. Dominic, she dreamt that a dog came from her womb. The dog had a torch in its mouth and it set the world on fire. She was devoted to Saint Dominic of Silos. This is probably why she named her son “Domingo.” She brought up her children in being pious persons. They learned the faith from her.

Known as “El Pele,” he was a Spanish married layperson and martyr. He was a Romani, who many people call “gypsies.” He worked to promote peace and harmony between his people and neighbors. During the anti-Catholic Spanish Revolution, he was arrested after defending a priest who was being dragged through the streets by the soldiers. He was later taken to a cemetery where he was shot with the rosary in his hands.

He was an Italian Benedictine bishop. Inside the monastery, he was well known for his holiness, austerity, and deep prayer life. When the pope heard of him, he was made bishop of Anagni. As bishop he ordered the construction of a new cathedral. He heeded the call of Pope Bl. Urban II to send people who will join the First Crusade. The same pontiff also assigned him as the papal legate to the Byzantine empire.

He was a Croatian Dominican bishop and martyr. He joined the Dominicans when he was still young. As bishop, he built a library and a school that catered to poor children. He wrote books which condemned witchcraft, superstitions, and divination. He clarified that people who were not able to go to school must not be persecuted for believing in superstition. He died after a Muslim man hit his head with an iron bar.

He was the first bishop of Naples. He lived between the end of the first century and the beginning of the second. According to pious tradition, he met St. Peter the Apostle. At this point, Peter healed him and after having catechized him, baptized him. Christianity immediately spread in Naples and when Peter decided to resume the journey to Rome, he consecrated Aspreno as bishop. The holy bishop died rich in merits.

On the day that he died, went out in search of alms, but he never returned to the hospital. A concierge had reported him to the militiamen who arrested and shot him.

He spent countless hours in the confessional. This is why he is the patron of priests.
