THE HOLY CAPUCHIN AND THE CAPPUCCINO
---
Today is the memorial of Bl. Marco of Aviano, an Italian Capuchin priest. He is famously called the “creator” or “inventor” of the Cappuccino coffee. This arose from the story which says that he mixed warm milk and honey with the bitter-tasting strong coffee abandoned by Turkish troops which he drove away. Some historians say, that the most probable origin of the name of the coffee is its brown color, similar to the color of the religious habit of the Franciscan Capuchins.
