Blessed and Joyful Feast of the Epiphany!
The word Epiphany means manifestation. The Church in the Mass commemorates a triple manifestation of Christ: to the Magi, that is, to the Gentiles; in His Baptism, when the Voice from heaven declared: “This is My Beloved Son”; and in the miracle of changing water into wine at Cana.

EPIPHANY BLESSING
Hear us, O Lord, Father Almighty, Eternal God, and send Thy holy angel from heaven to watch over, cherish, protect, attend, and defend all who live in this dwelling. We call upon Thy saints, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, to protect our family and our home from every harm and danger, and we place their mark over our door to remain there as a constant reminder to us and to all who enter here that our home is truly a home dedicated to the Lord, Jesus Christ.
O God, make the door of our home a gateway to Thine eternal Kingdom. We ask these things in the Name of Jesus Christ, Thy Son. Amen

EPIPHANY BLESSING
Thus it is that the faithful bless their homes with the sign: 20 + C + M + B + 26 signifying both the names of the wise men and also “May Christ this Mansion Bless”.
According to Venerable Bede, Melchior gave gold, Gaspar frankincense, and Balthasar myrrh.
After saying this prayer, write the initials of the Magi (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar) and the year with blessed chalk over the main door of your home.
For this year, 20 + C + M + B + 26

O hope of every contrite heart,
O joy of all the meek,
To those who fall, how kind Thou art!
How good to those who seek!
Month of the Holy Name of Jesus ~
January 6th
Chapter 2
What does the Name of Jesus Mean? (continued)
Each time we say “Jesus,” we gain 300 days indulgence* which we may apply to the souls in Purgatory, thus relieving and liberating very many of these holy souls from their awful pains. They thus become our best friends and pray for us with incredible fervor.
~~~~~~
*Although the Church’s regulations on Indulgences, including those regarding ejaculations, have changed, perhaps we may still hope to obtain these same Indulgences from God if we ask Him for them with great confidence.
Sundays and Holy Days
1. Every day of our life should be employed in glorifying God, but there are certain days He has particularly appointed whereon to receive from us a more special exterior worship. These are Sundays and holy days.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
I prostrate myself before Thy holy image, O most gracious infant Jesus (☨), to offer Thee my most fervent thanks for the blessings Thou hast bestowed upon me. I shall incessantly praise Thine ineffable mercy and confess that Thou alone art my God, my Helper, and my Protector.
Henceforth my entire confidence shall be placed in Thee! Everywhere I shall proclaim aloud Thy mercy and generosity, so that Thy great love and the great deeds which Thou dost perform through this miraculous image may be acknowledged by all. May devotion to Thy Holy Infancy increase more and more in the hearts of all Christians, and may all who experience Thine assistance persevere with me in showing unceasing gratitude to Thy most Holy Infancy, to which be praise and glory forever.
Amen.
Sayings of the Saints
May the God of love and peace,
set your hearts at rest
and speed you on your journey,
may He meanwhile,
shelter you from disturbance by others,
in the hidden recesses of His love,
until He brings you, at last,
into that place of complete plenitude,
where you will repose forever,
in the vision of peace,
in the security of trust
and in the restful enjoyment of His riches.
A Hymn to the Virgin
Of one who is so fair and bright
Velut maris stella, [Like a star of the sea]
Brighter than the day is light,
Parens et puella: [Both mother and maiden]
I cry to thee, thou see to me,
Lady, pray thy Son for me,
Tam pia, [so pure]
That I may come to thee.
Maria! [Mary]
All this world was forlorn,
Eva peccatrice, [because of Eve, a sinner]
Till our Lord was yborn,
De te genetrice. [through you, his mother]
With ave it went away,
Darkest night, and comes the day
Salutis; [of salvation]
The well springeth out of thee.
Virtutis. [of virtue]
Lady, flower of everything,
Rosa sine spina, [Rose without thorn]
Thou bare Jesu, heaven's king,
Gratia divina: [by divine grace]
Of all thou bearest the prize,
Lady, queen of paradise
Electa: [chosen]
Maid mild, mother
es effecta. [you are made]
"I know many who fast, pray, sigh, and demonstrate every manner of piety, so long as it costs them nothing, yet would not part with a penny to help those in distress. Of what profit to them is the remainder of their virtue? The Kingdom of Heaven does not receive such people, for “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God." ~ St. Basil the Great
