Musk announced he’ll drastically reduce his role at DOGE (not the coin, the Department of Government Efficiency) to refocus on Tesla, after the EV giant’s Q1 profit tanked 71%, revenue dropped 9%, and deliveries slumped 13%.
Tesla’s still got positive free cash flow — barely — thanks to halved investments and no 2025 forecast. And while Musk juggled politics, his spending hit $288M, making him the largest political donor of the 2024 cycle, funding Trump PACs and some seriously controversial campaigns (hi, RBG PAC).
Legally, Musk can only serve 130 days per year as a special gov advisor. Deadline? May 30th. So with Tesla struggling and the clock ticking — even the world’s richest man can’t do it all.
