📡 AI radar that listens in
Penn State researchers unveiled Wireless-Tap — a system that uses millimeter-wave radar and AI to transcribe phone calls from up to 3 meters away. It picks up microscopic vibrations on your phone’s body during a call and converts them into text with a tuned version of OpenAI’s Whisper.
Accuracy hits 60%, vocabulary up to 10 000 words. The sensors? Off-the-shelf, from self-driving cars and 5G tech. The team claims it’s just a security demo, but the takeaway is clear — call privacy isn’t what it used to be.
💡 Moral: if you think you’re speaking “just to yourself,” tech already begs to differ.

💸 Terra Founder Set to Plead Guilty: $40B Crypto Scam Nears Its Finale

Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs and the man behind one of the biggest collapses in crypto history, is reportedly ready to plead guilty in a U.S. court. The hearing is scheduled for August 12 in New York.
Back in May 2022, his algorithmic stablecoin TerraUSD (UST) and its sister token LUNA crashed in just days, wiping out around $40 billion and leaving millions of investors empty-handed. Prosecutors accuse Kwon of fraud, market manipulation, and money laundering.
He had previously pleaded not guilty, but after months of talks with prosecutors, it looks like a deal is on the table. If confirmed, the Terra case will go down as one of the most high-profile precedents in crypto history.

The real question: will the victims see even a penny back? 🤷‍♂️

🏔 The Mountain Just Raised the Bar — Literally
Hafthor Bjornsson, aka The Mountain from Game of Thrones, has once again shown that gravity is just a suggestion. This time, he pulled 505 kg in a deadlift, smashing the world record. 💪
For Bjornsson, this is nothing new — he was crowned World’s Strongest Man in 2018 and previously held the record at 501 kg since 2020. Now, he’s taken it even higher.
At this rate, we might need a new sport called “Mountainlifting,” because regular weights just don’t cut it anymore.

💡 Lights vs. Lies
When deepfakes look just like reality, Cornell came up with a clever hack — hide watermarks in the light itself. Their NCI tech makes lamps and screens flicker invisibly with a unique code. Eyes can’t see it, cameras record it.
When checked, a computer decodes the light pattern and matches it to the original. If it’s a fake — the image “breaks” with black gaps. Add unique codes for each light source, and forging becomes nearly impossible.
Oh, and it works with any camera — from a Hollywood rig to your old phone. The future of fighting fakes might just shine right in our faces.

👽 Alien’s back — and it’s pure nostalgia fuel
Alien: Earth just dropped, and fans are losing it — the first two episodes are being hailed as the best thing to hit the franchise since the 1989 movie. Dark vibes, suffocating suspense, and a direct link to Ridley Scott’s original.
The story is set two years before the first Alien, so you can dive in even if you’ve skipped all the past films. Oh, and those first episodes? Already “available” in certain free streaming corners.
Clear your evening — the xenomorphs are hungry.

😎 HTC takes aim at Ray-Ban with smart AI glasses
HTC is back in the game with Vive Eagle — smart glasses featuring an AI assistant and instant image-to-speech translation in 13 languages. Just point at a sign, and you’ll hear the translation in your ear.
📸 12 MP ultra-wide camera, built-in speakers, Zeiss lenses, and four frame styles from classy black to bold red. Weighs just 49g, so your neck’s safe.
💰 $520. The catch? Only in Taiwan for now — HTC seems to be testing the waters before hitting Europe and the US.
If it clicks, Ray-Ban might be in real trouble. This could be the first real smart glasses war. 😎

💍🌋 She said “yes” — and the volcano applauded
In Guatemala, a guy popped the question at the base of a volcano. She said yes — and nature decided to add its own special effects: eruption, lava, ash, smoke — straight out of a Hollywood ending.
Forget wedding fireworks, Mother Earth just upgraded the show. Now all that’s left is to deliver the rings in a halo of magma.

🧺 Figure’s humanoid is now your laundry buddy
Figure just dropped a video of Figure 02 neatly folding towels — and it’s smooth enough to pass for human help.
The secret is Helix, a Vision-Language-Action system that sees, understands, and moves without manual coding. Say “Fold the towels” and it’s on it.
🧠 Two brains at work: the slow, smart S2 (7B params) analyzes and plans, while the fast S1 (80M) executes with precision. No jerky motions — just clean, natural movements.
In a few years, folding laundry might be history. The only question: are you ready to trust a robot with your fluffiest towels?
