필자의 직업적 특성상 정말 별의별 회사들을 다 검토하고 다니고, 그러다보면 정말 인생에 있어서 두 번 만나지 않을 것 같은 사업 모델들을 종종, 아니 생각보다 상당히 자주 만나게 된다. 더 놀라운 것은 이렇게 인연이 되어 잠깐 스쳤다가 흘러간 그녀, 아니 그 회사들 그리고 추억 속의 별종같은 사업 모델들이 몇 년이 흘러 불쑥불쑥 비슷한 회사들로 다시 살아나서 "오호라 이렇게 잘 컸구나" 혹은 "아 그 때 투자했으면 대박 물릴 뻔 했구나"라고 탄식 혹은 안도의 한숨을 쉰 적이 한 두 번이 아니다. 재미있는 점들은, 그 회사들이 당시에 있었던 인기의 원인이 수 년을 흘러오면서 유지되는 경우가 상당히 드물고, 오히려 변화하는 트렌드에 맞게 잘 적응을 했는지 안했는지가 생존을 좌지우지하는 데 더 중요했다는 점이다.
