2017… I was a 3rd-year university student, juggling school, personal life, and tech projects. Life felt like a nonstop grind—some days I was unstoppable, other days completely overwhelmed by deadlines, assignments, and the weight of my own ambitions. 😓

That year, I launched two startup ideas… and both failed. Hard. It stung. I questioned myself, my skills, my choices. But here’s the truth: failure isn’t the end—it’s part of the journey. Every failed startup taught me lessons no classroom could. I learned resilience, problem-solving, patience, and how to keep moving even when nothing seems to go right.

Even now, I’m still working at Zergaw Cloud, still building, still learning. The grind hasn’t stopped. University, tech projects, personal struggles, past failures—they all shaped me. And looking back at 2017 reminds me that the path to success is rarely straight. It’s messy, it’s hard, but every setback is fuel for growth.

I have 2 or 3 startup ideas that I believe can truly fix problems in our transportation system, and one of them… well, it’s going to be mysterious, but I promise it will leave a mark.

On top of that, there’s my final year project, assignments, exams, and the daily grind of university life. It’s going to be intense, but I’m ready for the challenge. This year is about turning ideas into action, about building, testing, failing, learning, and growing faster than ever before.

I know the road won’t be easy—there will be obstacles, late nights, and moments of doubt—but 2018 is the year to push beyond limits. It’s the year to create, innovate, and make things happen. I’m stepping in with focus, determination, and a mindset that failure is just another step toward success.

I’m writing this inside the car(ከለሊቱ 11 ሰሀት). 🚐 We were on the road from Butajira to Addis, already 35km in, when suddenly the car just stopped. I asked the driver why, and he told me: ሸኔ. That’s it. That’s the reason we can’t move.

And it hit me hard. Because 6 or 7 years ago, I used to travel at 8pm and it was safe. No fear, no stopping, no ሸኔ. And now? Look at this—middle of the night, stranded, trapped in our own country.

It’s sad, frustrating, and honestly scary. We live in a place where movement isn’t free, where the road ahead is unpredictable. Who knows if the future will change for the better or worse? Right now, it feels like freedom is just a memory.
