When/while যুক্ত বাক্যে দুটি ক্লোজ এর মধ্যে যখন পূর্বের দুটি আলাদা কাজ(single action and continuous action) বুঝাবে, একটি clause past simple & another one past continuous হবে।

Ex:I came home while she was cooking.
I saw her when she was cooking.

📌আচ্ছা এখানে আরেকটা জিনিস একটু মেনশন করে দিই। সেটা হলো when এর আরেকটা ব্যবহার।

✨When I saw her,she was cooking. এখানে কিন্তু রান্না করার জন্য একটা ডিউরেশন আছে। যেমন :এক ঘণ্টা/ ৩০ মিনিট। যেহেতু কাজটা করতে সময় লাগবে তাই এটা চলমান ছিল। সেজন্য past continuous ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে।

✨On the other hand--When it started to rain,we came home.
এখানে কাজটি অল্প সময়ে(The action started in short) শুরু হয়েছিল আর কাজটি চলমান বুঝাচ্ছে না। তাই continuous ব্যবহার করার প্রয়োজন নেই।
