Venezuela Blocks Flights Carrying Deported Migrants From US, Mexico

A landmark deal was made to restart deportations in October 2023. This is the longest pause in repatriation since the two countries announced the deal.

The 'almost weekly' flights from the US to Veneuela were halted in late January according to US officials.

1,800 Venezuelans were returned home on 15 flights. This is a fraction of the nearly 500,000 Venezuelans detained at the southern US border over the past two years.

Why did. Venezuela stop accepting deportees? “The Biden administration reimposed limited economic sanctions against Caracas over alleged failures to adhere to loose pledges to restore democratic order and move towards 'fair' presidential elections.”

📝The House is scheduled to return until Feb. 28, which allows 3 working days to pass some sort of spending agreement for the government to continue running.

The indictment charges against Burke:
