NYPD is to bring back stop and search at subway stops
NYC Mayor Eric Adams (D) announced that he is bringing back bag checks for subway riders.
Adams: “We know people feel unsafe…We are reinstituting bag checks. There are several things we are reinstituting in the systeM…”
There will be 94 bag screening teams sent to 136 stations each week. Exact locations TBD. They reportedly will be searching bags for weapons such as knives, box cutters, clubs and guns.
The city is also reviewing technology to detect metal objects entering the transit system.

✔️Increase the maximum punishment for participating in a riot from 5 years to 10 years
✔️Create a mandatory 1 year minimum penalty for anyone who engages in or supports an act of violence as part of a riot.
Cotton: “Radical, pro-Hamas mobs committing crimes and perpetrating violence should face the full extent of the law. No one has the right to commit violence in support of terrorism. This bill is necessary to ensure that we reject anti-Semitism and hold these pro-Hamas criminals accountable.”

The William Way LGBT Community Center in Philadelphia lost a $1 million dollar earmark this week.
Revelations about the organization’s BDSM, kink, and fetish parties led to viral social media criticism.
This backlash was the basis for both PA Senators John Fetterman (D) and Bob Casey (D) to withdraw their requests for the funds. The Senate complied, removing the project from the bill on the same day.
