Diego Ibarra, Illegal brother of Laken Riley murder suspect linked to Venezuelan crime gang: DOJ

Diego Ibarra allegedly handed police a fake green card as they were on the hunt for his brother, the suspected killer of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley.

According to federal prosecutors, he has ties to the violent Venezuela-based organized crime gang Tren de Aragua, known as TdA.

As an illegal immigrant, Ibarra is not allowed to own guns in the U.S.… but.. according to prosecutors, the HSI agents found multiple pictures of him with different firearms.

TdA is known for violent turf wars and has expanded into other countries in South and Central America.

Federal authorities have been warning that TdA is trying to establish itself in the U.S. and police are already linking the gang to organized crime.

• The House passed the Laken Riley Act, requiring immigration officials to detain immigrants charged with certain crimes after a nursing student's murder near the University of Georgia.

• Republicans secured a victory with the bill's passage, continuing their criticism of the Biden administration's border policies.

• The bill received significant support from House Republicans, passing with a vote of 251 to 170, with 37 Democrats in favor.

• It is part of the GOP's broader efforts to address illegal immigration and rising crime rates.

• Named in honor of Laken Riley, the act stems from the killing of the 22-year-old nursing student by a Venezuelan immigrant who illegally crossed the border and was arrested in 2022.

🚨Classified documents judge accepts pro-Trump briefs from legal groups

The federal judge overseeing the classified documents case against Donald Trump, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, has permitted legal groups to submit amicus briefs, or friend of the court briefs, that were favorable toward the former president.

Two briefs have been submitted:

1. Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese, who served under former President Ronald Reagan’s. It was written in conjunction with law professors Steven Calabresi and Gary Lawson, and members of the conservative nonprofit: Citizens United

⚖️Meese’s Brief:
Meese’s brief argued that Trump’s bid to dismiss the case should be granted on the “Appointments Clause issue”, and do so prior to ruling on the other Motions to Dismiss pending in this case.

Biden’s pick of John Podesta as climate czar sparks joint congressional investigation

Members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee are seeking information on John Podesta’s because the appointment “appears to be a blatant attempt to sidestep congressional oversight and install Mr. Podesta in a position that under federal law requires the advice and consent of the United States Senate,”

A letter was sent with a detailed list of questions to Biden about Podesta’s appointment. The response deadline is March 19th.

The Republicans seek information on Podesta’s duties, to whom he will report, and any possible differences between Podesta’s role and Kerry’s.
