Massive container ship loses power near NYC’s Verrazzano Bridge days after Baltimore Key Bridge disaster

The US Coast Guard confirmed that its Vessel Traffic Service received a report that the 89,000-ton M/V Qingdao lost propulsion about 8:30 p.m. as it traversed Kill Van Kull waterway. This is the shipping lane between Staten Island and Bayonne, New Jersey.

John Konrad, CEO of maritime-focused news outlet gCaptain, said the Qingdao was being escorted by 3 tugboats but needed 3 more to bring it under control. ( 📝 He provided the photo accompanying this post)

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson said: “The vessel regained propulsion and was assisted to Stapleton Anchorage by tugs’.

Southwest flight from Denver makes emergency landing after 'mechanical issue,' airline says

The Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which had been scheduled to fly from Denver to Houston, landed safely back at Denver International Airport just after 8:00 a.m. and was towed to the gate.

Crew members aboard the flight said "the engine cowling fell off during takeoff and struck the wing flap."

Customers were rebooked on other flights, and maintenance teams are now inspecting the plane, the airline said.

On April 6 A friend sent me a Facebook post re: a horrible attack with a sledgehammer. ( screenshot posted ). The person attacked was the owner of a Truck emblazoned with pro-Donald Trump and Make America Great Again messages.

Update: Feds Arrest Suspect in Arson Case Involving Bernie Sanders' Vermont Office

Shant Soghomonian, also known as Michael Soghomonian, age 35, was taken into custody on Sunday. Soghomonian is reported to be a previous resident of Northridge, California.

The federal charges against Soghomonian stem from the building being used in interstate commerce and as a place of activity affecting interstate commerce.

Soghomonian's initial court appearance. has not been scheduled yet.

If convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from 5 to 20 years and a maximum fine of $250,000. It remains unclear whether Soghomonian has entered a plea, or what may have motivated the crime.

U.S. Lawmakers Reach Agreement On Data Privacy Law

Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), who chairs the Commerce Committee, and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Republican chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said that they reached a consensus on a draft of a bipartisan data privacy bill.

If adopted, the bill would:

✔️ Place a limit on the amount of consumer data that internet companies can collect
✔️Give citizens the authority to stop the sale of personal data or demand its deletion.
✔️Give people control over how their personal information is used ✔️Mandate disclosure if data has been transferred to foreign adversaries. 
✔️Grant state AG’s and the FTC broad control to supervise consumer privacy issues and to set up “robust enforcement mechanisms to hold violators accountable, including a private right of action for individuals.”
✔️Allow individuals choose not to have their data processed when a business changes its privacy policy…it calls for “affirmative express consent before sensitive data can be transferred to a third party.”
✔️Allow consumers to prevent “companies from using people’s personal information to discriminate against them” .. “bad actors who violate their privacy rights” and recover money for damages when they( consumers) have been harmed.”
✔️Mandate “annual reviews of algorithms to ensure they do not put individuals, including our youth, at risk of harm, including discrimination.”
