Black Grandmom Handcuffed For Hour After Noting Upper Darby Councilmembers Aren’t Paying Taxes

Olivia Taylor was hauled in handcuffs from the council meeting room, by 4 police officers guarding the council room who were then joined by two others outside to escort the 5-1, 103 pound woman to a police car.

At the station she was placed in a locked “cubical”, that had no chairs, standing on a bad leg and still in handcuffs. Sgt. Louis Garay returned to process her after an hour. Two female officers then stripped searched her! Her fingerprints and a mug shot were taken.

Ms. Taylor was charged with a third degree misdemeanor for “disrupting a meeting”, a state law from 1972. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 25. She will plead ‘not guilty’.

So, what prompted this arrest? Ms. Taylor had gotten information about Council members from her district who owed thousands in back taxes and one who had 27 outstanding traffic citations. She brought this to their attention in regard to the Council planning on raising residents’ sewer taxes.

Oh… and for the rest of the story…Ms. Taylor was recorded on the court docket as being a white woman.

The CDC essentially voided the majority of rental contracts and violated landlords’ property rights with the eviction ban.

The eviction ban was supposed to be a temporary and was set to expire by the end of 2020.

But…. after Joe Biden became president, his administration RENEWED the federal eviction ban 3 times.

The U.S. Supreme Court lifted the ban at the end of August 2021.

In 2024, Republicans are still constantly blamed for “wanting to cut Medicare” by the same guy ( the ‘big guy’) who just cut Medicare. Last week.

The White House published the following: “Extreme House Republican Plan Would Cut Medicare and Social Security While Slashing Taxes for Big Corporations and the Wealthy.” 

BUT

Biden didn’t merely propose Medicare Advantage (MA) reforms for the future... Biden actually cut rates from a projected 2.44% to 2.33%, despite industry predictions of a 4% to 6% growth rate. Medicare Advantage was chosen by 51% of seniors last year which has doubled from 26% in 2010.

Medicare Advantage is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ Soviet model of health care favored by liberals.’ Because it offers consumers a choice, it’s often targeted by single-payer advocates.
