Hi dears! Today we have some interesting facts about Christmas 🎄

1. Christmas cards [📨]
The first Christmas card was created because a busy man didn't have time to write letters. In 1843, Sir Henry Cole in London commissioned an artist to design 1,000 cards so he could quickly send holiday greetings to his friends and business contacts. The card depicted a family toasting, with sides showing acts of charity - feeding and clothing the poor.

2. St. Nicholas [👼🏼]
The real St. Nicholas was once imprisoned. He refused to renounce Christ, professing the truth, and spent about 20 years in prison, where he continued to serve God and perform miracles.

3. Cookies for Santa [🍪]
The tradition of leaving cookies for Santa may have Depression-era roots. During the Great Depression, parents wanted to teach their children about gratitude and giving during a time of scarcity. Encouraging them to leave a treat for the hard-working Santa was a way to instill the spirit of giving, even when you had little.

4. The Christmas Miracle of 1914 [🎁]
In 1914 (when was The First World War) during the famous "Christmas Truce," soldiers from both sides met in no-man's-land. They didn't just sing carols and play soccer, they also exchange of gifts. German soldiers had received small Christmas trees from home, decorated with candles and ornaments made from a plant called mistletoe.

5. Real Santa's address [🎅🏼]
The North Pole wasn't always Santa's address. Before the 19th century, various folk figures delivering gifts lived in different locations: snowy mountains, deep forests, or even the moon. The modern, magnetic North Pole workshop was cemented by cartoonist Thomas Nast in a series of Harper's Weekly illustrations from 1863-1886, which also gave us the first detailed drawings of Santa's suit, workshop, and list.
