Telegram just begun sending sponsored messages. Those messages are distributed by Telegram and are unaffiliated with this channel. I seldom send messages in this channel, but I feel the necessity to make an announcement about it.
I'm delighted Telegram is finally attempting to be profitable, but please be cautious that these sponsored messages may be frauds. The most common one I'm aware of is related to TON, a decentralized cryptocurrency network created by Telegram that has been abandoned years ago due to regulatory issues. Any ad that utilizes the phrases "TON", "Gram", and "TONCoin," etc. is not related to Telegram (not with this channel as well) and most likely be fraudulent.
There's currently no way for channel admins to disable them, nor be able to know what ads have been shown here. Fortunately, the phrase "sponsored" will appear in the bottom right corner of those messages, making them easily identifiable. And most importantly, always research thoroughly before deciding.

As Telegram approaches 500 million active users, many of you are asking the question – who is going to pay to support this growth? After all, more users mean more expenses for traffic and servers. A project of our size needs at least a few hundred million…
i know that they lied already, but if we were to take them seriously for a bit more, on durovs channel it was posted this specific bit: "Private chats and group chats are and will always be ad-free."
so, that leads me to the conclussion: make public groups instead of channels. make the permissions so noone can post anything but the admins. has the disadvantage of not having anonymous poster, i guess, but on a quick gaze that should be an alternative. moving a whole channel to a group wont be an option for many but at least for new channels being created, i think it could be tried. i have not tested any of this yet tho.
the second i see an ad on this channel, i will move it to a group and abandon it.

Telegram has begun to allow sponsored ads on channels with over 1,000 subscribers. I understand that Telegram wants to make a profit. I get it. I really do. But I hate ads, and I don't want them on my channel.
It's totally possible that we won't ever get ads here. I may not be big enough for anyone to bother. I may not have a specific enough topic to be targeted. As far as I'm aware, there's no way to opt out.
I'm just telling you so you won't be surprised if they appear here. If they do appear, I will definitely post a message disavowing any endorsement of the ad.

i dont know where exactly the "channels with over 1000 subs" part comes from but if true that at least will give me time to see how it will be before taking measures or whatever
