Oh yeah i havent talked aboutb that book since then

To be fair im still only at the beggining (6 chapters i think) but i HAVE A REASON FLR IT!! and the reason is that reading it feels kind of like a burden. Im not enjoying it as much as the main book series. It does have some silly things (ford dying his hair blue sounds like a ford thing to do ... zaphod havibg beef WITH ACTUAL GODS... wowbagger being back and being insufferable... ) but mostly its kind of unpleasant because
1."guide notes" appearing in the middle of a fun scene ARE SO ANNOYING!! They do have vibes of Douglas Adams' entries from the guide and stuff BUT THEY WERE SEPARATE CHAPTERS! AND THEY FELT SEEMLESS AND FUN! However, maybe i find them annoying because i dont get the jokes, who knows. but seeing these 3 paragraph long notes in the middle of A DIALOGUE is so. i cnat
2.slight mischaracterizations ? or its more likely just me having my weied headcanons and then seeing them break in front of me BUT Zaphod, for example, is treated kind of werdly imo. He was never "one smart head, one dumb stupid annoying head" there was never a distinct difference between them ( i think so), at least not a drastic one like in this book. They were both kimd of dumb honestly but they were dumb together 💪 Oh and ford saying that "he liked being dumb" very out of character he is smart and he wouldnt say something like that imo. And also idk how to feel about trillian but its not on the writer but on the way douglas wrote her back in "mostly harmless", its kind of hard to get out of this hellhole that he created .

But i suffer through it very very slowly because im curious to see how this writer will end the story. I hope its a happy and satisfying ending for ALL of the main characters(yes it includes Random . let the girl have a life) because if it ismt i will. Be mad

However, as much as im curious to see how it ends, i still dont think i will count it as full canon. In my mind the main story ends in mostly harmless (its a dark ending but i feel kind of better about it now in retrospect, but its still unpleasant for sure) and this sixth book is just some fanfic im reading..(which it is. It literally is a fanfic. But published.)
