Merge, a London-based cryptocurrency payments firm has announced the closure of the $9.5 seed round led by Octopus Ventures. Other participants in the round included Coinbase Ventures, Alameda Research, Hashed, Ethereal Ventures, founders of Aave, Polygon, the CEO of Ledger, and the former CEO of Barclays Consumer Banking. The funds will be used to develop its API-based banking and payments platform, bridging the gap between fiat and crypto ecosystems.

MoneyGram has partnered with Stellar (XLM) to create a money transfer platform
MoneyGram International, a cross-border transfer service, is partnering with the Stellar blockchain to launch a stablecoin-based platform for money transfers. The new service will allow Stellar wallet users to send Circle’s USD Coin (USDC) to recipients, who will be able to cash them out for fiat currency through the MoneyGram network. Moreover, MoneyGram negotiates with third-party companies that provide digital wallets in El Salvador alongside the government-backed Chivo wallets, through a deal with one of those companies, MoneyGram would be able to compete for BTC transfers as well.
