an old mentor of mine once told me something that changed me alot
never stop learning in whichever field you're in. always ask for advice from the veterans and always apply them. they are the ones that have walked the path and came out despite the obstacles. when they give advice, put aside your ego and listen.
if i tell you that there is a wall 20m up ahead, why would you knowingly walk into it?
plenty of veteran cyclers have been repeating the same thing again and again.
"there is a pithole here, don't step into it."
"there is a hole 20m ahead, watch your step."
"there's something further down, don't fall."

but somehow the greed will always get the better of most and its only after falling into the obvious hole pointed out that they start to regret
