Noticing an uptick in pig butchering scam attempts on X lately.

For anyone unfamiliar, pig butchering is a type of fraud that often starts as a friendly or romantic conversation, then shifts into an investment pitch. No matter the approach, the end goal is always to separate you from your money.

It’s also important to understand that many of the people sending these messages are victims too, trapped in scam compounds in places like Myanmar and Cambodia.

Don’t engage with anyone you don’t already know who reaches out online. They’re not trying to connect, they’re trying to scam you.

New type of drainer scam going around.

People tag your account inviting you to join an X community for a “giveaway.” Once you’re in, they send you to a Linktree — click any of the links and your wallet gets drained.

The one I saw had over 5,000 members. Be careful about community invites and never click links from people you don’t know. Stay safe out there.

And this will probably be the last we hear from Chen Zhi. The Chinese government will sweep him—and whatever support he had from people in power—under the rug and out of the public’s memory for good.
