🛡 Security measures in Crypto Wallet

As part of our “Safety” series, we’re sharing the tools inside Crypto Wallet that help keep your funds safe. Today, let’s take a closer look at two main protection features — passcodes and biometric authentication 👇

🧑‍💻 A Crypto Wallet passcode is a 4 or 6-digit code requested when making withdrawals or selling crypto. You can set or change it in Settings (three dots in the top-right corner). You’ll also be asked to enter an email address — it’s used to restore access to your passcode or change it if needed.

Never share your passcode with anyone, not even Wallet Support. If someone asks for your passcode for any reason, you should block them and report their account.

💪 Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) is an additional way to protect your Crypto Wallet — you can use it instead of typing in the passcode. Biometric data is stored only on your device. If you change your device, you’ll need to re-enable biometrics.

The passcode and biometrics help protect your funds even if someone gains access to your Telegram account.

😱 A stranger messaged you? Here’s what it might lead to

Sometimes scams don’t start with a phishing link — they begin with a simple, friendly, or even “accidental” message from a stranger. This is how many social-engineering schemes work: the scammer gains your trust first, only to later try to take your money or access your accounts.

Recently our support team handled several such cases, and we want to share how these schemes unfold so you can avoid losing your funds.

Scammers usually look for victims in Telegram groups about investments or crypto. They study your messages and behavior in the chat to understand how best to approach you. Then an unknown account (often posing as the opposite gender) writes to you “by mistake”. The stranger tries to get closer emotionally: sharing personal stories, asking questions, showing empathy — building trust over days or even weeks 😎

Once the connection is established, they suddenly tell you about a “great earning opportunity” — a website or app where you can supposedly make quick money with little effort. These fake sites often imitate well-known brands, making the scheme more convincing 🧙

They will ask you to deposit a small amount to “test the service”. Sometimes scammers even allow you to withdraw a tiny profit at the start to help build confidence. However, they will keep asking you to make deposits, and will stop you from withdrawing — saying that you need to wait or must first pay a commission or “fee” to the platform. At this point, it’s already too late: the site is fake, your funds were sent to the scammers’ wallets, and withdrawals are impossible.

🛡How to protect yourself

If you’ve already sent money to scammers, recovering it is usually impossible. That’s why prevention is key:

● Don’t trust strangers who offer “easy profit” — this is always a scam.

● Never send crypto to external sites, services or apps just because someone in private messages told you to. Especially if they ask you to “top up your trading balance” or pay a “withdrawal fee”.

● If one of your contacts randomly asks you to send them money or use an external service, always double-check that it’s really them — and not an impersonator who hacked their account.

Following these simple rules significantly reduces the risk of losing your funds 🎉

Your Crypto Wallet is linked to your Telegram account by your Telegram user ID. Unlike your phone number or username, your Telegram ID cannot be changed. This means that changing your phone number or username does not affect access to your Wallet.

A username is an optional nickname that starts with @ and can be added or changed in your Telegram Settings.

But what should you do if you suddenly lose access to your Telegram account?

You should immediately contact our support team via the bot or by email at support@wallet.tg — they will ask you for the necessary details to help restore access as quickly as possible.

Remember that in Crypto Wallet you can complete verification. It not only increases your available limits and features, but also significantly helps with restoring access. Even if you lose your Telegram account, successful verification can help you regain access to your Crypto Wallet.
