RT @RealCynicalFox: @EsotericCD @ElbridgeColby: This is a point I thoroughly disagree with. A revanchist Russia was always going to conduct local aggressive actions against unaligned states on its borders to “recover” territory. The only way to stop that was with the threat of force. There’s a reason Russia invaded Ukraine, not the Baltics who enjoy the protection of NATO.
There were only three options; bring Ukraine into NATO before Russia was ready to take military action l, fight a proxy war when Ukraine was invaded, or let the Russians conduct local aggressions. We chose the worst combination of the latter two options.

@EsotericCD @ElbridgeColby The whole thing was a disaster esp for Ukraine and wholly avoidable ... leaving Ukraine as a buffer state out of NATO but possibly in the EU would have allowed everyone to keep face ... and allowed for the future to perhaps make…

A Western official told ABC News that today's Russian strike on Dnipro did not appear to be conducted with an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), but rather a shorter-range ballistic missile of some kind.

RT @russianforces: Regarding reports about ICBM fired by Russia to Dnipro. My take is that one must be skeptical and cautious. Regarding the "intercontinental" claim, the distance from Kapustin Yar to Dnipro is about 800 km. It's not an intercontinental range. But it's complicated. Short thread 1/

RT @M51_4ever: - there are no Russian ICBM regiments in Astrakhan region. So the launch was probably for Kapustin Yar test range.
- I highly doubt this is Rubezh IRBM, which development was in limbo for years. The most likely candidate is a test-dedicated Topol-E ICBM, used to test reentry...
