RT @deaidua: I just want to point out that It's not exactly news that Germany tried to buy arms from Brazil for #Ukraine. For example, Germany attempted to procure ammunition for the Gepard/Cheetah SPAAGs in 2022 and for the Leopard 1 MBTs in 2023. Both requests were rejected.
The negotiations with Brazil were part of really far-reaching negotiations happening since 2022 with various countries around the world that were not directly willing to provide Ukraine with military assistance on a bilateral level.
While, for example, Brazil (fully) and Switzerland (partially) refused to cooperate on different matters, Germany made deals with Qatar and Jordan, allowing additional Gepard/Cheetah SPAAGs and PzH 2000 SPGs to be delivered to Ukraine.
A deal with Egypt allowed a much faster delivery of two IRIS-T SLM fire units to Ukraine, while negotiations with Switzerland even led to them complying for once, since the deal didn't violate their...

2) 300 tanks and 500 IFVs = ??? with half a million troops you need 10 times that... unless you want to have 300,000 useless light infantry troops.
