Why didn't Cube build a simple exchange like everyone else? Instead, we opted for a more complex structure with MPC vaults, guardians, and advanced cryptography. Here's why. 👇

Cube’s design starts with separating the exchange from custody and settlement, inspired by traditional finance.

In traditional finance, exchanges, prime brokerages, clearinghouses, and depositories like DTC operate separately. Each has distinct roles in the trading lifecycle.

Cube’s exchange focuses solely on price discovery, matching, and trading. It doesn’t handle asset custody or settlement.

Instead of storing assets on the exchange, Cube uses a decentralized custody and settlement layer operated by a network of independent guardians.

Users create MPC (Multi-Party Computation) vaults with the guardians, ensuring assets are always stored securely in these vaults.

When transactions occur, the exchange recognizes assets in the custody layer and matches orders, reifying them back to the guardians and the blockchain.

This structure ensures that the exchange cannot unilaterally move assets, providing a secure and transparent trading environment. 🌐🔒
