RIYADH, June 19 (Reuters) - Nearly 2 million Muslims will reach the end of the haj pilgrimage this week, but extreme heat has proved fatal for hundreds who began the journey last Friday to the Kaaba at the Grand Mosque in Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
At least 562 people have died during the haj, according to a Reuters tally based on foreign ministry statements and sources.
Egypt alone has registered 307 deaths and another 118 missing, medical and security sources told Reuters, as temperatures at times soared past 51 degrees Celsius (124 Fahrenheit).

Iran-aligned Houthi militants first launched drone and missile strikes on the important trade route in November in what they say is solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. In more than 70 attacks, they have also seized one vessel and its crew and killed at least three seafarers.

SEOUL, June 20 (Reuters) - North Korea and Russia agreed to provide all available military assistance if the other side faces armed aggression, under an agreement signed by their leaders, the North's KCNA news agency reported on Thursday.
The two countries will not sign any treaty with a third country that infringes on the interests of the other and will not allow their territories to be used by any country to harm the other's security and sovereignty, KCNA said, citing the agreement.

Russian president Vladimir Putin gifted his petrol head North Korean friend, Kim Jong-un, a new luxury limousine and other exquisite gifts during his historic state visit to Pyongyang.
The two leaders exchanged gifts on the sidelines of their summit to deepen their ties and take them to new levels as Russiaand North Korea face growing isolation on the global stage.
Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Mr Putin gifted a Russian-built Aurus limousine, a tea set and an admiral’s dirk to his friend Mr Kim.
Mr Putin in turn received various works of art depicting himself, including busts, presidential adviser Mr Yuri said.
