To the one who is feeling stuck,
Wait. You don’t have to scroll past this. This is not one of those letters which tells you it’s okay to feel what you’re feeling or tells you it’s a bad day and not a bad life. No. I know you’re tired of hearing the same bullshit again and again.
I am not writing this letter to tell you it’s okay to suck at things you love or that it is okay if you feel left out in your own group, no. I know it’s not okay. It’s the least okay anything can be.
I know exactly how it feels. How you feel you’re trapped inside a room, and even though you have the freedom to walk out through that door, you don’t know where you belong. You feel stuck, don't you?
This sadness, this feeling, it’s like a sunset. You cannot stop it. You cannot control it. You can only pause, look around, and wait until the sun finally sets and the sky paints a happy picture for you.
On some days, you try to remain hopeful that things will get better, but some days are just hard, you don’t know if you’re ever going to come out of this loop. On days like these, when every piece of you tells you to give up, I need you to think of something.
Which bad thing has stayed forever? You remember that first heartbreak? You wouldn’t get out of your bed for days and you wouldn’t eat properly or dress properly. Heck, you stopped giving a care about the world. But it got better, no?
You know what? There’s a loophole to feeling this way – it only gets you when you think you’re not getting out of it soon. But the day you get up with a smile and move out? That makes the difference.
You get accustomed to feeling this way; you make it your comfort zone, and it scares you to pop that bubble and face the world, again.
But hear me out – This isn’t the end to your story. This is just the beginning.

Things that feel a lot like self-love, but aren’t:
Often, we don’t decipher the true meaning of self-love. But more often, we don’t understand that there is no true definition of self-love, it is one emotion that holds you to yourself.
1. You agree to things that make you feel very uncomfortable because you feel the need to be strong. But that’s not how it goes. You do not always have to put yourself into a struggle to gain something.
2. Yet again, being over lenient towards oneself with the belief of loving oneself is not right either. There ought to be some discipline and a kind of boundary that you cannot cross for yourself. Over-pampering is not an answer.
3. Avoiding relationships to stay mentally strong does feel a lot like self-love, but it isn’t. Relationships are natural and a necessity of human. You do not become emotionally weaker by having someone in your life to share your emotions to.
4. Idolizing yourself because that’s the whole foundation of self-love, isn’t it? No! Self-love not only comes from accepting and acknowledging every aspect of yourself, but also admitting the ugly parts of yourself as the ugly parts.
5. Choosing work as a “productive” distraction from the unwanted emotions is not a self-love practice. Self-love does not reflect choosing productivity over mental health.
6. Self-love isn’t forced isolation because you read somewhere that being alone is being yourself. There isn’t a guidebook you need to follow to achieve a stage of self-love. You should love yourself the way you want to, and that’s the most beautiful part of self-love.
7. Self-love does not mean you analyse and over analyse every breath you take. Allow yourself to feel nothing at times. And if you feel too many things, allow yourself to not try to understand every feeling inside.
8. Lastly, carving a straight path of healing and pushing yourself to follow that straight line is not self-love. Always remember, healing is not a linear process. You will have to go on the rollercoaster once a while. I assure you it will pass.

The creator God who choses to wash people’s feet is the kind of God that i wanna follow.

“How to stay in love?” my lover asks. “with everything that’s going wrong, how do we keep our hearts still?”
.
I had pondered upon it once long ago. falling in love has never been too hard. some 3 am conversations and allowing yourself to be cared for by another person is enough. it’s the “staying in love” that is hard – it requires sacrifices you’ve never made before.
I learnt early that love doesn’t come with guidelines. the poet next door has understood and felt it, and yet, he’s always going to be confused about it in his next poem. if i had to answer this question in a sentence, i’d say, ‘staying in love is efforts.’
You see, when i fell in love, i wanted it to be ‘forever’. when i fell in love with her, i knew very little about staying in love. i am still figuring it out, but love is always growing and with it must grow my knowledge and understanding of love.
My lover once said to me, “we fall in love easily and fall out easier.” to stay in love is to understand that it will not be sunshine and butterflies. in between, we’re going to have our difficulties, and at days, one of us might hang by the thread, really close to call it off – that’s when we’ve to stay in love. to stay in love, you and i have to be stronger than our demons. to stay in love, we have to stay with each other.
But if you’re scared for it all may go in vain – give your love a purpose. you and i, we’ve 11:11. it’s one of the many ways for me to stay in love. my words belong to you. and if you ever stop loving me, let me know.
I’ll get ready to leave.

To the ones who are single in your 20s,
Maybe, right now you are supposed to be in a relationship with no one but yourself. Maybe right now you are supposed to travel to unknown places, make conversations with strangers, and eat a meal for two without sharing your fries with anyone.
The past two decades of your life were the preparatory classes for the real deal that 20s will throw at you. You will find yourself, lose it again, and then find something new. Searching for someone for validation will slow you down. But if it comes at your door knocking, don't reason-zone them.
Being alone and being lonely are not the intersection of the Venn diagram called life. If you are comfortable spending time with yourself, you are prepared for a good number of uncertainties in your life ahead. A lack of one relationship will give you time to strengthen others.
Do things at your schedule without feeling like a burden or inconvenience to someone else. Stop feeling bad for putting yourself before others. Enjoy the new music with friends, bake for your siblings, and get on a long call with your mother.
You can be single with a lot of romance in your life.
Being single is okay if you are okay.

Does it ever occur to you how humans are like vessels, full of something, giving out whatever is stored inside the hollowness of their being and always, scared of draining it out? so much so that they desperately try to protect themselves with whatever they can find, to cover themselves enough to save what is left?
Only to realise what they have inside was never theirs but out for the giving and, and what a waste it proves itself to be, now that they've hidden it away from the world, where it was supposed to go?
Does it ever occur to you how humans have this undeniable urge to save themselves from what they think is a potential threat to a heart which is safe behind cages, made of ribs and precautions?
Only to realise that they have spent an eternity repairing, damaging, trying not to feel anything, stuck in a vicious cycle, to a point where they have nothing else to offer to anyone who walks into their lives next?
Do humans realise that they deny themselves of everything, of feelings and knowing what is worth saving and what is not, of things that could be and that couldn't, of everything else in between?
Only to realise they robbed themselves of meaning to a point of bankruptcy, of age and of simple pleasures and company in life?
Do they realise what an absolute waste it is?

Why you need to learn to love yourself
because your love will,
i. Keep you warm on days when everything feels cold, from a cup of hot coffee to your best friend’s touch.
ii. Let you take a break and stop you from being too hard on yourself.
iii. Make you believe that you are more than your terrible past and failed relationships.
iv. Soothe your back gently while you face your fears and not let your anxiety win.
v. Buy you an ice-cream on a bad day and applaud at every little step you take forward.
vi. Keep your heart pumping with happiness and not let any negative thought invade your beautiful mind.
vii. Sing you your favourite songs and make you dance your heart out while your eyes shine the brightest.
viii. Make you realize that you are enough and as long as you have your own back, nothing can stop you from conquering the world.
ix. Teach you to not be just kind to others but to yourself too. it will tell you how to love right.
x. Make you say this every time you look in the mirror, “I am enough” with the biggest smile on your face.

I think too much and i can’t switch it off.
Sometimes, i access things more than i should. i attach false hopes to the things i assume, and i hate it. it’s like boarding a bus that takes you nowhere.
Seriously, if making up scenarios and thinking yourself into a bad mood was an art, i’m exactly the artist you’re searching for. from blue ticks to double taps on messages, everything makes me overthink.
I’m always curious. it’s like my brain has too many tabs open at the same time, and the worst part? i can do nothing to stop this. i spend time remembering vague moments. i re-read text messages. i automatically think what was better off to be said in last conversation i had with a random person.
I’m just sensitive about everything. i’ll send you 5 texts straight in a minute. i’ll call you at odd hours. i’ll send you voice notes. i do not do that to hear you say, “stop overthinking”. it seriously is the worst thing to say to an anxious person. it’s the reason why sometimes i do not open up, even to the ones i love, because i don’t want to annoy them up to an extend that they leave. i don’t want them to stop caring and think it’s another of my daily dramas.
So, the next time an overthinker texts you, be a patient listener. people who think too much need people around them. they try hard to fit in. they apologize too much. they laugh even when the jokes aren’t funny.
They don’t want to be anxious about things, people and situations. it comes to them naturally. they are victims of their own mind. trust me.
