We can't stop negative thoughts from popping into our head, but we can learn to recognize/challenge thinking patterns that pull us down. We don't need to let our minds bully us into perpetual stress & sadness.

“When the world feels like an emotional roller coaster, steady yourself with simple rituals. Do the dishes. Fold the laundry. Water the plants. Simplicity attracts wisdom.”

Never hold yourself back from trying something new because you're afraid won't be good enough. You'll never get the opportunity to do your best work if you're not willing to first do your worst, then let yourself learn/grow.

80."I am enough.

I have always been enough."

Wow. Say that out loud to yourself a few times and see if you believe it or not.

If you see someone falling behind, walk beside them. If you see someone being ignored, find a way to include them. If someone has been knocked down, lift them up. Always remind people of their worth. One small act could mean the world to them.

Our egos are easily hurt and they react quickly/impulsively in anger, fear, defensiveness, exaggeration, frustration, self-preservation, and insecurity. But all that drama can be avoided with a little self-awareness.

Repeat after me: I am no longer available for things that make me feel bad.

“Highly sensitive people are too often perceived as weaklings or damaged goods. To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness, it is the trademark of the truly alive and compassionate.”

“Setting boundaries is a way of caring for myself. It doesn’t make me mean, selfish, or uncaring just because I don’t do things your way. I care about me, too.”

Be there. Be open. Be honest. Be kind. Be willing to listen, understand, accept, support, and forgive. This is what it means to love.

82.The only one telling you that you can’t have what you want is YOU. There’s a million ways to get what you want. Even if someone said no, that shouldn’t stop you. Find another way.
83.If you struggle with regret - ask yourself this: Is regretting the past helping you change your future or are you just using it to make yourself feel bad?

“Anything that annoys you is teaching you patience. Anyone who abandons you is teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet. Anything that angers you is teaching you forgiveness and compassion. Anything that has power over you is teaching you how to take your power back..."

"We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what's wrong in your life, or you can focus on what's right."
You can’t be fearful and grateful simultaneously.
It may be challenging to step into a state of gratitude during a time of tumult and fear. But now, more than ever, we need to practice grace. The practice of gratitude can lift us out from under the heavy weight of our unsavory thoughts and feelings and move us into the direction of loving-kindness.

Morning Gratitude

1. Upon waking up, do not pick up your phone; instead, take a few deep breaths.

2. Think of three things you’re grateful for. Start with something small, such as being alive, the fact that you can breathe, you have a comfortable bed, you have a roof over your head, etc.

3. If you notice resistance, just become aware of it. Do not force anything.

4. If it’s helpful, you can say, “I’m willing to release the resistance that I have to this gratitude practice.”

5. Perhaps a different prompt might work, such as:

What is your favorite song and why?

Look outside the window, what is one thing you see that pleases you?

Describe who or what makes you feel safe.

Describe who or what makes you laugh.

Describe who allows you to be yourself.

You can also apply the exercise above using a journal. I typically write three things I appreciate, and if I have time I describe why.

Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will evade you, but if you notice the other things around you, it will gently come and sit on your shoulder.

Some days it’s about productivity and efficiency. Some days it’s about happiness and love. Some days it’s about hard work and progression. Some days it’s about all of the above. Some days it’s simply about getting through the day...
