People often perceive deer as unintelligent due to the expression “deer in headlights,” which implies that these animals react poorly to high-stress situations. However, this reaction is not indicative of stupidity. The sudden brightness temporarily blinds the deer, causing them to freeze, similar to the effect of turning on a light in a pitch-black room.
