Het gaat maar door, het escaleert met de dag, de ‘rode lijnen’ zijn overschreden en niet meer bij te houden, het gaat zo snel, in ieder geval in de media, maar ook in de politiek. De rode lijnen in het Westen zijn allang overschreden, er wordt niet meer met de ‘vijand’ gesproken, alleen nog maar gedemoniseerd met zoveel haat, dat je bijna denkt dat ze een persoonlijk conflict hebben met Poetin en Rusland.
In de jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw werd er nog met elkaar gesproken, de ’telefoonlijnen’ tussen de Sovjet-Unie en het Westen waren open en ondanks de dreiging van het gebruik van kernwapens was ik persoonlijk minder bang dan nu (niet dat ik een bang persoon ben) voor het gebruik van kernwapens.
Nederland is helaas koploper geworden in Europa in deze nieuwe ‘koude oorlog’. Mark Rutte wordt in oktober natuurlijk de nieuwe NAVO-baas. Oud-AIVD-chef Dick Schoof is via een interne coup en een vreemde constructie benoemd als nieuwe premier. Iets wat hij niet goed doet, wat mij betreft een beetje een knoeier en stuntelaar in de communicatie. Maar goed, Nederlandse politici zijn geradicaliseerd en willen oorlog, geen diplomatie, geen onderhandelingen, de nieuwe generatie politici is grof en geradicaliseerd, misschien keken ze te veel naar het computerspel ‘call of duty’?
