Thank God Lindsay Graham is not to be (although he will be advising in the background see my last post) , that shows the unpredictability of the coming US government. I rather don't like to speak much about US internal affairs, only when it comes to wars they fought for many years and still do. The last thing I want to say about is the pick of Trump for a special envoy for the Middle-East (read Israel) which is totally insane, but hey is the current Western world not insane? That's for now about the USA, I will focus again on the more important issues.

This branch originates on 13 November 1918 when the Revolutionary Military Council issued an order No. 220 to establish the first chemical service of the Red Army; bodies and units of chemical protection were formed. The NBC Protection Troops determine and estimate an NBC situation, conduct active decontamination of forces, decontaminate areas, roads, and fortifications, employ aerosols to set camouflage, fire flame throwing components to engage the enemy, and provide disaster relief of dangerous facilities.

Het Russische Ministerie van Defensie blijft ook toezicht houden op schendingen van de stralingsveiligheid in Oekraïne, en niet zomaar. Volgens het Russische ministerie voerde het Oekraïense leger alleen al in 2022 49 artillerie- en droneaanvallen uit op de kerncentrale van Zaporozhye. De aanvallen waren gericht op kernreactoren, opslagfaciliteiten voor verse en gebruikte kernbrandstof en andere kritieke infrastructuur.
“De kerncentrale van Zaporozhye is nog steeds een conflictgebied. Velen denken dat de situatie daar is gestabiliseerd, maar helaas is dat niet het geval. Er wordt nog steeds gevochten in het gebied en er vliegen nog steeds drones, dus het hoogste niveau van gevaaralarm blijft”, aldus Rafael Grossi (IAEA).
De aanvallen van de Oekraïense strijdkrachten baarden de internationale gemeenschap en met name het Westen aanvankelijk weinig zorgen, aangezien specialisten van de Engelse Universiteit van Cambridge tot de conclusie kwamen dat het risico op stralingsbesmetting minimaal was.
De voorspelling van de Russische experts over de stralingssituatie, die later werd bevestigd door (andere) relevante Europese organisaties, liet echter zien dat de ontsnapping van radioactief materiaal bij een ongeluk vrijwel heel Europa zou treffen. Pas toen, en nadat IAEA-experts naar het de kerncentrale gingen, stopten de aanvallen.
Maar dat was slechts een tijdelijke utopie, tot op de dag van vandaag zijn de aanslagen op het industrieterrein en de satellietstad Energodar, waar het stationspersoneel woont, weer actueel. Zeker nu Oekraïne de oorlog verliest, grijpen ze naar “terroristische” aanslagen, met name op Energodar en Zaporozhye.
