The Netherlands increased imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia by 68% year-on-year in 2024 to 1.92 bln cubic meters, according to a report by the Statistics Netherlands (CBS). In 2023, imports of LNG from Russia totaled 1.14 bln cubic meters. In 2024, the Netherlands’ total imports of LNG amounted to about 21 bln cubic meters. But still the gas is very expensive! On Monday, traders paid more than 58 euros for a megawatt hour of natural gas. That is about 5 percent more than at the end of the day on Friday and is the highest level since February 2023

🔹The leaders discussed issues related to the prisoner exchange between Russia and the United States. The US President assured the Russian President of the American side's commitment to fulfill all the agreements reached.
🔹The leaders also discussed a possible Ukraine settlement. Donald Trump spoke in favour of stopping the hostilities as soon as possible and solving the crisis peacefully. In turn, Vladimir Putin pointed out it was necessary to eliminate the root causes of the conflict and agreed with Donald Trump in that a sustainable settlement could only be reached via peaceful negotiations.
🔹Additionally, the Russian President expressed support for one of the US President's key arguments, which was that it was time for both countries to work together.
🔹The issues of Middle East settlement, Iran's nuclear programme, and bilateral economic relations between Russia and the United States were also brought up during the conversation.
🔹The Russian President invited the US President to visit Moscow and expressed willingness to receive visiting officials from the United States to discuss topics of mutual interest, including a possible Ukraine settlement.
🔹Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump agreed to maintain personal contact in the future, involving in particular in-person meetings.

Zoals ik bijna drie jaar geleden al schreef, Europa zal het niet winnen van Rusland en nu lijkt het er bijna op, hoewel er nog veel ‘horden’ genomen moeten worden, Amerika is immers een onbetrouwbare partner, maar dat is niet nieuw, dat is al jaren zo. Het is eigenlijk altijd “America First” geweest, dat zien we terug in het spoor van bloed dat ze na de Tweede Wereldoorlog over de hele wereld hebben getrokken, de meeste oorlogen zijn begonnen, of verlengd door de Verenigde Staten van Amerika.
De grote klap kwam gisteren natuurlijk toen bekend werd dat Poetin en Trump contact hadden over Oekraïne. Oekraïne dat een obsessie werd voor de Europese elites, ingefluisterd door de Amerikanen en in Nederland weer een obsessie meer met de MH17.

Afschaffing en ontmanteling van alle Amerikaanse bases op Europese bodem, ontbinding van de NAVO, oprichting van een eigen Europees veiligheidssysteem en bovenal de terugkeer van diplomatie, menselijkheid en hervorming of afschaffing van de Europese Unie. Een Europese Unie die bedoeld was voor handel en wederzijdse diplomatieke en culturele banden was het doel en zou het weer moeten worden. Wat zei Vance, vice-president van Amerika op de veiligheidsconferentie van München in Duitsland? In ieder geval in de zaal waar hij zijn speech hield niets over Oekraine, dat werd, als we het moeten geloven, achter gesloten deuren gehouden.
Het was eigenlijk een toespraak die niet echt over Oekraïne ging, het was voor veel aanwezigen, voor de Europese elites, politici, is het een nietszeggende beledigende toespraak, velen zullen gedacht hebben: ‘zo’n groentje (hij is nog jong), gaat ons vertellen dat wij ondemocratisch zijn? Geen persvrijheid, nee, we hebben (in Nederland) de NOS, NRC, RTL etc., die fantastische verslaggeving leveren (denken ze, ze leven in een andere wereld dan wij)!
Natuurlijk had hij goede punten, over de ondemocratische totalitaire samenleving die Europa is geworden, de vervolging van journalisten en politieke activisten (zoals ik), de massale emigratie, want vlak voor de conferentie begon was er nog een terreur daad in München , door een getraumatiseerde geradicaliseerde Afghaan, die natuurlijk nooit vrij in Duitsland had mogen rondlopen. Toen het gebeurde stonden de elites, die met afschuw naar de toespraak van Vance luisterden, met bloemen in hun handen, staken kaarsen aan en zeiden ‘dit mag nooit meer gebeuren’, maar na een paar weken zal waarschijnlijk precies hetzelfde gebeuren!
Maar er is er één die altijd optimistisch blijft en dat is de Nederlander Mark Rutte secretaris-general van de NAVO, hij ziet wel ‘openingen’ bij Trump, hij vindt het prima dat Europa minimaal 5% van zijn Bruto Inkomen aan de NAVO gaat bijdragen, immers ‘Poetin’ mag niet winnen.
Maar ja, de Nederlanders zijn wat ‘scherper’ in onderhandelen en vooral in praten, dat kunnen ze beter dan onze oosterburen de Duitsers. Bij Mark is dat nog wat anders, hij kan goed liegen, dat weten de Nederlanders, maar ja, politiek in Europa is ‘bedrog en misleiding’. Een slecht voorbeeld voor het volk, het moet eerlijk zijn en voor het volk, maar die geradicaliseerde elites zijn dat allang vergeten, ze leven in hun eigen wereldje, waar ze denken gelijk te hebben en zich niet kunnen voorstellen dat het volk dit niet meer wil, geen immigratie, wij zijn democratisch, toch, roepen ze?
