The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution condemning Russia's actions in Ukraine. The US original resolution got amendments from EU and other Western states, making it an anti-Russia resolution. The resolution came on the of the 3rd year of the Special Military Operation and demand a full withdraw from Ukraine (meaning the Donbass) by Russia. Ninety-two countries voted in favor of the draft resolution, eight - including Russia and Belarus - voted against it, and 73, abstained from voting. https://tass.com/world/1918307

New elections in Ukraine could pave the way for a government that prioritizes the interests of its people. But that is probably a utopia in the current circumstances.
Ukraine is one of the world’s leading countries in terms of mineral wealth. Despite covering only 0.4% of the Earth’s surface (excluding the Donbass region), it holds approximately 5% of the world’s mineral resources. Ukraine ranks among the top 10 global producers of various raw materials, including titanium, ball clays, Fe-Mn & Fe-Si-Mn alloys, and gallium. Additionally, it is rich in lithium, graphite, and magnesium.

Demonstrations were also held in Tartous, the heartland of the Alawites. All Alawites have been removed from their (government) positions and have no salary since the fall of former President Assad and his government. The leader, Basil, asks solidarity from the non- Alawites (the real Syrian not the Jihadist who are mostly foreigners), to stop working in solidarity with those who were forcibly dismissed. If the authorities do not respond, there will be a great wave of demonstrations on the streets of Hama, Latakia, Tartus and Homs. We will no longer accept changes and repression in exchange for income, we will take up arms if necessary...

Aleksandr Chumak was captured during an attempt to invade the Kursk region. He says that Russian servicemen treat him well: 'Feed, give water, and let us wash. It's fine with it here.'

Vladimir Putin took part in a meeting of the Federal Security Service Board. Some of the key points made by the President:

🔹Consistent work must be continued in all the areas of interest, primarily the fight against international terrorism.

🔹The FSB and other departments and law enforcement agencies in coordination with the National Anti-Terrorism Committee must use the available manpower and capabilities as efficiently as possible. Special attention is to be paid to measures of prevention and the provision of anti-terrorism protection of military and industrial facilities, essential services, public facilities, as well as energy and transportation infrastructure.

🔹Efforts to increase the anti-terrorism capabilities of FSB units in the regions of Donbass and Novorossiya must be pursued further.

🔹Significant additional measures must be taken to protect the border. It is necessary to continue increasing the border security density in potentially dangerous areas while keeping residents of border settlements safe in cooperation with units of the Armed Forces, the Russian National Guard, and the Interior Ministry, as well as local authorities.

🔹Extremism and terrorism must be fought decisively and assertively, and any attempts to sow discord and divide our society or set people of different ethnicities or religious beliefs against each other must be thwarted.

🔹Counterintelligence protection measures must be significantly strengthened for military and strategic data pertaining to public and defence administration, as well as development of new weapons or advanced technologies in other fields.

🔹More action is needed in the field of combatting corruption. The FSB should maintain consistent focus on how defence contracts are handled, how national projects are implemented, and how long-term federal and regional projects are delivered.

Four years ago, when the Biden administration took office, I mapped out the likely trajectory of its future policy toward China in a lengthy article noscriptd Hybrid War on China that was subsequently published in a Chinese news outlet. I argued that the U.S., faced with the emergence of a multipolar world order, was growing increasingly desperate to arrest the decline of its hegemony and would pursue an aggressive policy based on the rigid assertion of its liberal ideology. I expected it would continue to frame it as an existential battle between democracy and authoritarianism although that narrative, and the ideology underpinning it, was becoming increasingly ineffective – many societies had developed antibodies against the messianic promotion of Western liberalism. My analysis stood the test of time until the Biden administration was relegated to the dustbin of history. Now, in order to speculate about the evolution of China-US relations we must overhaul that analysis to take into account the ideological thrust, ambitions and sweeping reforms of the new administration.
