The city center of Guangzhou, China, where amidst all the large department stores, you can find an ancient Buddhist temple, where time has stood still. Afterwards, we were invited by the head monk for dinner, prepared according to Buddhist tradition, meaning vegetarian, but very tasty. A brief impression, even though it was incredibly hot, around 38 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity.

In a recent interview, President Putin said that while ideology played a role in the tensions between the West and Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union, geopolitical interests were the deciding factor. https://youtube.com/watch?v=-3Idb1VGR6k

Syrian government forces are accused of committing a massacre inside Suwayda’s National Hospital on July 16. According to Dr. Wissam Masoud and multiple hospital staff, troops from the de facto government's “General Security” and “Ministry of Defense” entered claiming to restore peace, but instead killed dozens of patients—including children and the elderly—inside their wards.
Footage and eyewitness accounts describe corpses left in blood-soaked beds and body bags piling up outside. One volunteer described the killings as targeting Druze civilians solely for being a minority.
The Syrian Defense Ministry acknowledged “shocking violations” and promised investigations, but access to the area remains tightly controlled, complicating independent verification. The true death toll is unclear, with some local estimates exceeding 300. A report by the BBC

My latest article on Strategic Culture: https://strategic-culture.su/news/2025/07/26/ukraines-drug-fueled-army-steroids-synthetic-drugs-and-the-new-narco-state/ Ukrainian drug cartels grow richer and more powerful. Expanding production, they are finding new markets in Western Europe. Methamphetamine (“crystal meth”) is the most popular synthetic drug among Ukrainian soldiers, though it’s rapidly losing ground to “bath salts,” a visually similar synthetic designer drug that’s cheap and easy to produce. Ketamine is also widely used.
“Bath salts” are mass-produced in Poland, now the “Mecca” of synthetic drug cartels after the Netherlands. This ties to the influx of so-called refugees in Poland. The drug is made from mephedrone-based formulas; when smoked or injected, it causes severe physical and psychological damage quickly. It’s often mixed with other substances to heighten addiction.

Guangzhou, China today the traditional China culture mixed with the modern times. They still honour Bruce Lee, who was born in Guangzhou. Traditional opera and modern Karaoke can go together with martial art

Our last night today in Guangzhou, Southern China. Very busy with people on the city square, China is booming. They have something like the (destroyed US) Twin towers and in the middle the Kanton TV tower with radiant colours. Only the weather was very very hot, tropical temperatures feels like 45 degrees. Southern China is on the equator and has a tropical climate. But for sure if you want to travel, visit China, it's a world you would not imagine...

I returned from China, with a long delay, about 24 hours travelling time and 10 hours in the air (including waiting times at Chinese airports). This was due to the tsunami alert in Japan (Guangzhou is south direction Hong-Kong and Macau). I had to come from the south of Guangzhou, where it was rainy very heavily. when I left, but I made it back to Moscow safely. It was a very special trip. I got a good impression of China, which I'll write more about in the coming days. China is a unique country, very efficient. They have large airports, but I've never experienced such efficiency, speed, and friendliness. It's truly fantastic for tourists; even customs/passport control is incredibly fast, which you can't say about many countries. The airlines are fantastic. The Chinese are the friendliest people I've ever met, and I've travelled extensively. The only major challenge for Europeans is the food in China, but I managed to get through it. I recommend to visit China it's amazing

The Moscow Zoo celebrated the eighth birthday of Ding Ding, the mother of Katyusha the panda, in grand style: she was presented with a big birthday cake made of ice, bamboo, sweet potatoes, apples, and carrots.
