DSA und Pressefreiheit? Journalistin warnt vor wachsender Zensur in der EU

Die italienische Zeitung Corriere della Sera hat nach eigenen Angaben aus Platz- und Inhaltsgründen darauf verzichtet, die vollständigen Antworten von Russlands Außenminister Sergei Lawrow zu veröffentlichen. In Moskau wertete man dies als Zensur, zumal selbst der Vorschlag, die Langfassung online zu bringen, abgelehnt wurde. Laut dem russischen Außenministerium wurden vor allem Passagen gestrichen, in denen Lawrow den Begriff "Neonazismus" verwendete. Daraufhin veröffentlichte das Ministerium das komplette Interview eigenständig.

Die unabhängige Journalistin Sonja van den Enden kritisiert diesen Vorfall als Beispiel für zunehmende Einschränkungen der Pressefreiheit in der EU. Sie verweist besonders auf den Digital Services Act, der ihrer Ansicht nach zur Zensur führe und es den Bürgern erschwere, sich ein eigenes Bild zu machen. Laut van den Enden werden kritische Stimmen blockiert, alternative Informationsquellen eingeschränkt und damit grundlegende demokratische Rechte untergraben.
