Während seiner Amtszeit als niederländischer Ministerpräsident wurde Mark Rutte heftig dafür kritisiert, dass er enge Kontakte zu großen Unternehmen wie Shell und Unilever unterhielt und ihnen in Steuerfragen erhebliche politische Unterstützung gewährte.
Als NATO-Chef fordert Rutte nun weltweit höhere Militärausgaben. Lassen sich in seiner aktuellen Rolle als Förderer der Rüstungsindustrie.

In recent weeks, particularly during the last EU meeting where a decision had to be made on whether to use frozen Russian assets for Ukraine – ostensibly for reconstruction, but in reality for the purchase of weapons – Europe, and especially EU President Ursula von der Leyen, made a complete fool of itself.
Tomasz Froelich of the EU-ESN group, a German politician from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party elected in 2024, launched a scathing attack on the EU leadership. He called Ursula an infantile feminist in a man’s suit.

Personally, I would prefer to compare her to Magda Goebbels, the wife of Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels in the Third Reich – or rather, fascist-Nazi Germany. Ursula has seven children and Magda Goebbels had six, making Ursula an exception among Europe’s largely childless feminist politicians. She is a fanatical and fervent supporter of Angela Merkel; they are close friends, and Merkel therefore gave her various government positions, following a trend in Europe at the time to appoint female defense ministers.

Kerstmis, zoals het in sommige delen van Europa nog steeds gevierd wordt, is doorgaans een tijd van bezinning voor degenen onder ons die in zoiets als God geloven, of voor de filosofen onder ons. Het sprookje en de magie van het kerstverhaal is prachtig, net als de versieringen in de vele grote steden over de hele wereld. Maar het leidt af van de grote problemen waarmee de wereld als geheel te kampen heeft.

De situatie in de wereld is nog nooit zo ver verwijderd geweest van vrede, samenleven en vooruitgang. Mensen proberen elkaar te vermoorden voor geld, macht, religie en land. We zijn beland in de moderne middeleeuwen, een tijdperk dat pseudowetenschappers ons willen doen geloven als een tijd waarin een nieuw tijdperk aanbreekt. Volgens hen zijn we, zoals jaren geleden al werd verkondigd door vooral de rijken en machtigen der aarde, in de vierde industriële revolutie beland.

Het is bijna onmogelijk om AI volledig te implementeren, maar wat is AI eigenlijk? Velen verwarren het met het internet, omdat “gewone” mensen het internet anders gebruiken dan wetenschappers. De meerderheid van de wereldbevolking gebruikt het internet immers voor video’s en games, sociale media en op de werkplek voor nieuws, media en natuurlijk financiële zaken, enzovoort. Maar “gewone” mensen zijn niet bezig met zelfrijdende auto’s of andere innovaties.

AI is een vloek voor de media- en nieuwsindustrie (en andere beroepen), niet omdat ik persoonlijk bang ben dat het het vak overbodig zal maken, maar vanwege de enorme hoeveelheid nepnieuws die overal wordt verspreid. De grootste vloek is YouTube, waar deepfakes en AI worden gebruikt en er zoveel nepvideo’s met die blikkerige stemmen circuleren. Daarom gebruik ik YouTube alleen nog voor muziek of oudere documentaires, van minstens drie jaar of ouder. Ik heb ook geen actief YouTube-kanaal meer; aanvankelijk vanwege de westerse onderdrukking van de persvrijheid, maar nu wil ik er geen meer gezien al het nepnieuws (je kunt me vinden op het kleinere Rumble).
