Saw some new video talking about how extremist groups are “infiltrating” jiu jitsu.

The usual nerds in the comments are trying to discredit time frames or belt check etc.

I’ll put it here to set the record straight, alongside a link to an article I wrote in 2018 when i was a fresh blue.

Most of this shit can also simply be googled since we have competed in shit you can look up online for dates.

I had trained no gi prior to 2015, but trained seriously from then to now with only a few brief breaks for injuries etc.

My coach from white to purple was Ben S., a Franjinha black belt from Paragon BJJ in Ventura.

The coach who gave me my black belt this year is a long time Carlson Gracie Jr. black belt.

My brother Matthias, who I’ve also trained under since the beginning of Devotion, is an IBJJF no gi world champion at purple, bronze medalist at IBJJF Worlds at brown belt, and is a 3 time Pan Ams champ.

He’s trained long term under Romulo Barral, Edwin Najme, Kris Osiander and other legends.

We now have classes every weekday morning at 7a and every weekday evening at 6p as well as open mat sessions Saturday at 12p and Sunday at 10a.

Some tough matches, some absolute displays of domination. It was our teammates first outing at their respective belt levels, and they all killed it.

A gold medal sub-only run in absolute divisions at purple, and at least 1 opponent put to sleep by our white belts. Great coaching by our black belts, and support from our team.
