This transition ended in 2014 with the introduction of reCAPTCHAv2, which uses a two-step process: (1) a combination of behavioral analysis and a simple checkbox, and (2) image classification tasks as a fallback for users who fail the checkbox challenge. By 2016, both (1) and (2) were defeated with a high degree of accuracy by bots.
