Forwarded from Mind Over Matter (Kitty)
"I try to structure my entire life around being completely independent from other people. Attachments make me uncomfortable and I think for an old soul any attachments are a burden. I'm breaking free of the incarnation cycle afte this life. That means being free of all material needs as well as all personal, no attachments at all.
Family and kids I believe is an experience that a soul needs to have but not in every life. I have no desire for family, kids, the white picket fence that people chase. All of those things sound infinitely boring to me. I want to condense my life to phone and laptop. Nothing more. Those positions (burdens) are easy to remove myself from before death.
I think people are stuck in the construct that they need another soul because they feel lonely. Even with other people around I still feel alone, I think others do as well. They use it as a form of escape. When all you are really doing is distracting yourself from the suffering we all feel. Life is suffering, all needs are constructs of the ego.
Life is nothing more than an experience for conciousness to observe itself and learn what it is. Any needs, personal or material are what cause suffering. That's how I see the world as a Buddhist.
The act of needing, anything at all, causes suffering."
