I've heard of this happening before, this is the dirty little secret of offshoring CS work to India, it's assumed that you are going to have data breaches and large scale hacks since the majority of the engineers they are overworking and underpaying will fold for a even a modest sum of BTC or USD, since to them they just won the lottery.

A lot of large corporate hacks in recent years, I suspect, began with Hackers buying backend access to a company's IT services via their Indian offices.

It costs nothing for some Russian hacking collective to scrounge together a couple grand from malware hacks to toss at some IT tech in India, but to that tech that's a permanently life changing amount of money. This used to be understood as a reason why you didn't offshore to third world countries since this was always a risk, but no one cares anymore since our economy is solely dedicated to looting as much as possible before the wheels fall off.
