The US struck the mausoleum of former Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez - the Cuartel de la Montaña building in Caracas, according to social media posts.

This is a former military museum, which was converted into his burial place after Chavez's death. The remains of the former country's leader are stored there.

There has been no official confirmation of this attack.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel accused the US of attacking Venezuela. He stated that Havana demands an urgent response from the world to the "criminal US attack on Venezuela".

"Our peace zone is under a brutal attack. This is state terrorism against the brave Venezuelan people" he wrote.

At the end of his address, Díaz-Canel added the slogan: "Homeland or death. We will win."
