In Russia, a 17-year-old student opened fire inside a school building, killing a security guard. This is already the fifth attack in Russian schools since the beginning of the year.

Today in Anapa, a 17-year-old college student, Ilya O., entered his technical school with a shotgun and opened fire in the lobby, killing a security guard who “took the first hit” and prevented the attacker from moving further into the building. Two other people were injured, including one student, both in moderate condition.

The shooter was detained by Russia’s National Guard. Before the attack, he posted on social media: “There will be no innocent people today. Any scum that crosses my path will die.”

This marks the fifth armed attack on a school or college in Russia since the beginning of the year.

On January 22, a 13-year-old student in Nizhnekamsk brought a knife to Lyceum No. 37 and attacked a janitor, leaving her with slash wounds.

On February 3, a 14-year-old schoolgirl in Kodinsk, Krasnoyarsk region, stabbed a classmate while attempting to attack a teacher. The same day, a ninth-grader in Ufa opened fire with an airsoft rifle at a teacher and classmates. No one was seriously injured.

On February 4, an eighth-grade student in Krasnoyarsk School No. 153 attacked classmates with a hammer. Seven students were injured.
