A Minnesota Somali scammer has pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud for stealing $6m in federal taxpayer funds for a fake nonprofit named the Star Autism Center.

From 2020–24, Abdinajib Hassan Yussuf billed Medicaid for fake autism help services for Somali children whose families received cash kickbacks. He sent hundreds of thousands to Africa. The convict was only 22 when he started the scam. He faces only five years in prison. At his plea hearing, he claimed not to even know anyone with autism.

Large numbers of Somalis in Minnesota and across the U.S. are involved in scamming foolish Americans out of potentially billions of dollars. The money is sent to East Africa and helps fund their lavish lifestyles. Democrats have sought to downplay the fraud they oversaw.
