Having a little difficulty finding ones going back further for age of FIRST birth, rather than average age — which would be much different numbers since people had many more children in the past

Kinda leads me to think that they’re hiding it, but let’s see

This one goes much further back,

But just shows average age for all babies, instead of average FIRST birth, the former being possibly much higher

Kinda funny that 2 of the places with most extreme gender ratios, in opposite directions, are in the top 2 places on the list

In some places, like rural Gambia, it apparently peaks real young, as their fertility rates would suggest

Wouldn’t be surprised if countries’ fertility rate is very strongly associated with age of first birth

So, easy to see where the arguments come from

Median age of first birth indeed has been in the early 20s or higher in many first world countries for a long time

…But sizable percentage of the distribution still were having first birth in early teens (possibly with teen fathers)

…But for some races that whole curve shifts all the way over to near 15

…And then for some whole countries, particularly the highest fertility rate ones, they’ve got those curves pinned right to ~14

…so
