Yeah, makes sense the left would succeed in their long march through the former but not the latter

= I.e. initially the smaller asset copying the larger asset, but as it repeats the same cycle more, the smaller asset becomes less confident that the larger asset’s swings mean anything, and instead of continuing to fully copy, the smaller asset’s price movements slowly converge toward the middle of the range

(Exception is that Japan pump & dump in the middle, whose exact timing likely only could be forseen slightly ahead of when it happened, so that wasn’t fully priced in.)
