Speaking of rules that may or may not have ever actually been real rules,
— Was holding doors for women ever a real rule?
Or another fake TV invention that people accepted as supposedly always having been a real rule?
Let’s find out

Holding doors for women —
Did NOT exist as a custom at all prior to ~1857, as proven by its total absence from numerous thorough etiquette books prior to that
— So anything saying it’s an ancient custom that dates back to ancient knights is BS
Then the etiquette books added this as supposed etiquette during the brief time when women’s popular fashion made it physically very difficult for them to open doors on their own
Then everyone forgot where it came from and assumed it was always some kind of rule

Even more damning to the “ladies first and men should hold the doors” supposed etiquette rule though is
— the OPPOSITE was long held as the proper etiquette
since much longer ago,
and for far more practical safety reasons, in addition to according to etiquette books from around the world

As for the “rule” that you can’t put whole pots in the refrigerator?
— Again, looking like a Western psyop by people who were trying to sell you something
Specifically, the Tupperware company, which was HUGE for decades
and guess what their top advertised use was?
— for leftovers in the refrigerator
Their massively successful product had little reason to exist, if people had reason to believe that you could just use the pot or pan you cooked it in
Other cultures far removed from Western Tupperware influence NOT having this custom nearly as much seems to further corroborate this
Not to mention “Saran Wrap”, the often used alternative, which was also heavily pushed for decades — at least until people started to get suspicious health risks of microwaving food with plastic wrap
= “No pots in the refrigerator” is mostly a western psyop made by big companies trying to sell you something you didn’t really need at all?

That so many of the anti-pots crew seem to explicitly mention “Tupperware” seems to further corroborate this theory
