Ukraine war escalating 🄳🄾🄾🄼🄿🄾🅂🅃🄸🄽🄶
One interesting reason why not to assassinate enemy leaders:
Harder and slower to negotiate surrender if that side does lose

Ok look, for long-term, ethereum’s going to have to switch their base layer in non-reverse-compatible ways,
A bit like Apple and others have done before
So what’s the problem?
(1) People haven’t yet figured out what’s the proper base layer proof system to use — something completely different than the “turing complete” base layers used today, so even if they were willing to totally abandon reverse-compatibility now, they wouldn’t know the real long-term foundation to switch to
(2) The one huge win that could be implemented — speeding things up — already has been done extremely well by Solana, who achieved this simply by “stealing” the well tested Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) virtual machine from the Linux kernel and rewriting it in Rust. Basically making all the right moves if speed is your only goal. Hard to beat this in speed by much.
(3) Once the true “final” long-term path forward DOES come out, that won’t be clear that this is the true ultimate foundation until its already picking up big steam — at which point Ethereum may be too far behind to play catchup
= Ethereum likely has to do a major technical revamp, but even if they were willing to, they have no idea of what to switch to
Will ethereum’s next move, if they make one, just be to copycat Solana and swap in something much faster? Maybe. Likely won’t be much faster than Solana’s current foundation though.
Ethereum’s in a tough spot
(Could switch to a more appropriate proof-based foundation, but as 3 points out, they’d struggle to decide which one.)

Solana’s eBPF Virtual Machine
Evolved from the rather ancient BPF code made in 1992
Basically Solana said what’s the fastest pre-existing VM with decent properties that we can use for our platform, and they correctly identified the BPF VM as exactly that

2 attacks against critical infrastructure leave 210 000 ppl with out power in France.
- 160 000 left without power in Cannes after an attack against a transmission tower & a transformer station.
- 50 000 without power in Nice after an attack against a trans. station
